ThumbLoop is a Chrome extension that automates YouTube thumbnail A/B testing. It is built to keep your data on your own machine. This policy explains exactly what is stored, what leaves your browser, and what does not.
The short version
Your videos, thumbnail queues, test history and settings are stored locally in your browser and never sent to us. The only data that ever leaves your machine is your Pro license key (to verify your subscription) and — only if you choose to set it up — notifications sent to your own Telegram. We do not run analytics, we do not sell data, and we never receive your YouTube login or password.
What we store, and where
- In your browser only (
chrome.storage.local): the videos you enroll, the thumbnails you queue, A/B test state and history, your preferences, and (for Pro) your license key and activation record. This stays on your device and is never transmitted to ThumbLoop. - We operate no server for the Free and Pro tiers and keep no database of users, videos, or thumbnails.
What leaves your browser
- YouTube / Google: the extension acts inside your own logged-in YouTube Studio session in your browser to read test results and change thumbnails. It also loads your videos' thumbnail images from YouTube. This is the same connection your browser already makes to YouTube — we are not a middleman and receive none of it.
- Lemon Squeezy (Pro only): when you activate or verify a Pro
subscription, the extension sends your license key and a non-identifying
instance ID to Lemon Squeezy's license API
(
api.lemonsqueezy.com) to confirm your subscription is active. No video or thumbnail data is sent. Lemon Squeezy is our payment provider and Merchant of Record; see their privacy policy at lemonsqueezy.com/privacy. - Telegram (optional, off by default): if you add your own Telegram
bot token and chat ID in Settings, the extension sends test/swap notifications — which
may include thumbnail images — to your own Telegram chat via Telegram's API
(
api.telegram.org). This only happens if you set it up, and the messages go to you, not to us.
Payments
We never see or store your card details. All payments and subscriptions are processed by Lemon Squeezy (Sold through Link, LLC), our Merchant of Record, who handles billing, taxes, and your payment information under their own privacy policy.
Cookies & tracking
The extension itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics. This website serves static pages and does not track you.
Your control
You can clear all locally stored data at any time by removing the extension from
chrome://extensions, or by clearing the extension's storage. To stop
Telegram notifications, remove your bot token in Settings.
Children
ThumbLoop is a tool for YouTube creators and is not directed at children under 13.
